Happy Hour Burgers at Bar Louie

Short Pump, VA

Last week I had the lovely opportunity to join a few of my friends for Happy Hour at Bar Louie.  I must say, Tuesday is one of the best days to come here for HH.  Take a look at the little flyer menu.
One dollar burger? Yes, please!

I didn't even have to look through much of this one... even though it was kind neat looking.  Just for the burger page.

While we waited for our friends to arrive, I had the opportunity to really look around.  The restaurant is a nice and clean establishment.  The bar is in the middle of the restaurant, tv's line up around the bar and a few other walls in the place, and comfy couches are stashed in the cozy corners.  I've been told that Bar Louie is a hangout for an "older crowd" as well as after work middle aged businessmen.  The atmosphere from the staff and the restaurant were nice so I didn't really care. :)

So after looking at my available beef choices, I decided on the Chicago Stockyard.  Peppercorn, parm-blue cheese, mushrooms, romaine lettuce, onion, tomato, and worchestershirshirshireire sauce.  Doesn't that sound just absolute delectable?  Ok, so it's a specialty burger so that cost me an additional $3.50, but still. Less than $5 for a specialty burger of delicious proportions.  Worth it.

The burger was actually really good.  Cooked to a lightly pink center with juiciness in every bite.  The veggies were fresh, the onions plentiful, and the cheeses, sooo tasty.  The bun was toasted nicely too.  Just a bit of crunch to the chewy bread.  It was also bigger than your average fast food burger, it really made me feel like I made a good choice.

Another of my friends who decided to join me on my burger dream got the Blue Louie.  Blue cheese, bacon, fresh spinach, and buffalo sauce filled his beauty.  It reminded him of delicious, beefy, wings.  Yes, wings.  The blue cheese and buffalo sauce made for a nice combination of tangy and savory and really made the dining experience delightful.  The bacon was cooked to crispy perfection and wasn't just a pile of sliced fat.

We ordered a basket of fries to share (the one order was plenty for the two of us!) which really rounded out the meal.  I was a happy camper.  Fresh tasting fries, that were soft on the inside and crunchy on the outside.  Nothing out of this world, but better than many.

This meal was quite satisfying and inexpensive.  I splurged a bit and went for the specialty burger, but really, my meal cost less than $10, less than $15 with tax and tip.  I'd say that's pretty good for what I got.  The service was pleasant and attentive- though it did take a bit of time to get drinks from the bar since it was pretty busy.

Overall, How Nuts Are We for Bar Louie?

Food: 4.5 coconuts.   Definitely a great place for weekday specials.  $1 burgers on Tuesdays for the win! (Or add $3.50 for a specialty)
Service: 5 coconuts for our server who was super nice, super helpful, and attentive.  3 for the delays from the bar.
Repeatability: 5 coconuts.  Happy Tuesdays! :)

Until next time...      ( / ^ω^ ) / \(^ω^\)
