Let's stay at Yats

Indianapolis, IN

Fishers

When I'm feeling like I need a fast and comforting meal, I like to head on over to Yats Cajun and Creole.  Yats is a New Orleans style restaurant that serves up fast Cajun and Creole dishes.

Yats is low key, no fuss place. You place your order at the counter and they bring your food out to you.  The service is fast and friendly.  They have a rotating menu so check out their website to see what they are serving that day before you go.  Some dishes have a limited quantity available and is served until the pot has been scraped clean.  The jambalaya is really popular and runs out pretty early during the lunch rush so if you are a fan, make sure you get there early.
I can never decide what I want to eat when there are so many items to choose from, so I opted for a half and half plate so I can have two yummies without getting over stuffed.  They even have a few vegetarian items that sound pretty tasty like spinach and mushroom etouffee.  I ordered the half and half plate of drunken chicken and the chili cheese crawfish etouffee.

All the dishes are served over plain white rice... well I guess the ones that are rice dishes aren't because that would be too much rice.
Each plate also comes with a side of toasted buttered bread.  There is so much butter baked into this small slice of bread.  It is really tasty and is good for sopping up all the leftovers on the plate.  If you really like bread, you can always order more of it.

All I could say after the first bite was, "Wow."  The sauces are so creamy and flavorful.  The chicken was moist and tender, and the crawfish was not fishy tasting.  The dishes were both pretty mild, but I was OK with that today.  If you are in a more adventurous mood, there is a counter full of different hot sauces ranging from your normal Lousiana Hot Sauce to Srirachi Thai Chili sauce.  With all these options, you'll never get bored.

And if you are still hungry, they do offer a few dessert options like their delicious peanut butter cream pie and their awesome brownie licious brownie.  The pie is so rich and decadent so make sure you are ready for that if you choose to go with pie.  The brownie was a better choice for me since it was smaller and not quite as rich.  Don't get me wrong, it is still a very rich and yummie brownie with large chunks of chocolate in it.

Yats is a great, affordable choice for Cajun and Creole.  You can't go wrong with a meal that is around $8.  It's a great lunch spot and great for a fast dinner with quality eats.  If you are having a big party, Yats would be a great option for catering.

Overall, How Nuts Are We about Yats?

Food: 5 coconuts. Great fast Cajun and Creole.
Service: 5 coconuts. Good food fast.
Repeatability: 4 coconuts. The menu rotates, but there is a limited number of dishes to rotate through, especially if I'm having two each time. :)
