Pinky's Westside Grill

Charlotte, NC

Good Cheap Comfort Food with a Twist

Our first ever foodie adventure.  This one we went on together.  We don't get to see each other very often so we decided that our first adventure should be comfy and casual.  We stopped for dinner at Pinky's Westside Grill in Charlotte, NC.  Pinky's is a fun place with classic eats...yummie burgers and hotdogs with an edgy twist.  The menu has many things to choose from and will please many types of eaters.  The building used to be an auto repair shop.  It still has the roll up garage doors that open up during good weather.  The old VW Beetle is still parked on the roof of the building.  It was a bit rainy so we sat inside.  If the sun was out, it would have been nice to sit outside on the patio.

Now onto the yummies.

For starters, we ordered the Crab Puppies.  If you like hush puppies, and if you like crab, you are going to like these.  They are the perfect blend of sweet and savory.  The outsides are crispy and the insides are soft and moist.  The basket comes with 13 puppies and a spicy tartar like sauce.  They were so good that we forgot to take a picture before we ate most of them.

For our entrees, I ordered the Pinky Dog from the Wiener Wonderland.  It was a 100% all beef hot dog topped with pimento cheese and chili.  The cheese was all melty and gooey.  What more can I say.  It had cheese on it.  I really like cheese.  Definitely better than your average chili cheese dog.

Trumpy got the White Trash burger.  It normally comes with provolone cheese, fried pickles, onion rings that are more like onion straws, and a spicy ranch sauce.  He kicked it up a notch and made it Westside with mustard, chili, slaw, and onion.   He claims that "everyone who orders this burger will become a world champion speed eater because no one can eat this slowly.  There are too many yummie ingredients in this burger and eating it slowing will make it all end up in your lap."

Trumpy was afraid at first to order this burger styled in the Westside manner.  I told him to go for it.  He liked all of the ingredients individually so why not try them all together.  All the flavors went well together.  This is the ultimate Carolina style burger.

Because we really like fried yummies, we got waffle fries too.  Can't say no to waffle fries.   If only they had cheese on them...

This place gets our approval for great service and good yummies. Too bad we were too stuffed for desserts.  Mayhaps next time?
