Burger Bach

Richmond, VA

Juicy and Original Burgers and Amazing Sauces

So for this week’s adventure Petchi and I took a little road trip up to Richmond, Virginia.  We visited a little trendy neighborhood called Carytown, in the Southern region of the Museum District.  Burger Bach, A New Zealand Inspired Gastro Pub caught my eye.  A bunch of questions popped into my head: “Is that Bach like my buddy Johann?  What’s a gastro pub?  What kinds of fun things does New Zealand inspire?  Why not find out while we get some good food?”  So the next thing we knew, Petchiboon and I were sitting in a comfy booth surrounded by industrial feeling décor and a laid back atmosphere.  There was even a neat bas relief cow on the back wall (hahah I used bas relief in my post :D).

I ordered the Hangover Cure burger, which had a fried egg, bacon, American cheese, caramelized onions, tomato, mayo, Mexican green chile sauce (hoowee it’s a spicy one!) and some other hot sauce to top it off.  It was a yummie burger, cooked to pink perfection.  New Zealand must feed their cows some tasty grass because the burger meat was nice and juicy and tasted super yummy with everything else on top.  See that little mess of greens on the side?  You can just stuff it all on top of the burger because eating it on it's own was just like eating greasy greens.  Eww! Not so good.

Petchi ordered the South Lamb Burger which had lamb, honey Dijon vinaigrette, spinach, goat cheese and cilantro sauce.  Anything with any kind of goat cheese will always win my orange little friend over and this burger was no exception.  Petchi said, “It was nice and juicy too, and the melty cheese was AMAZING!”  I may have sneaked a little bite out of his burger so I can confirm this testimony :)

We ordered large fries to go with our burgers too.  Wow!  Now, that was a lot of potato.  The fries were a little salty for my taste but were nice and crispy on the outside and had a nice homemade taste.  If you and a friend are both getting fries and don’t mind sharing, I definitely recommend getting the large to share.  This was definitely bigger than two orders of the regular. (Our server said so!)  What about the sauces we picked you ask?  The tzatziki and basil pesto were suuuuuper yummie.  Nice flavor, nice consistency, deliciousness.

Overall, very nice service, comfy environment, yummie yummie food, and just a good place to get a burger.

So what did I learn from our visit to Burger Bach?  It’s “batch” not “bock” and New Zealand inspires really yummie foods.  Unfortunately, I still don’t know what a gastro pub is.
