A fun fusion of an American favorite and a Korean favorite

A fun fusion of an American favorite and a Korean favorite

Today, I took a quick adventure to a little bakery/café on Buford Highway called Milano Café.  A good friend of mine recommended we go here for lunch to try out the Bibimbap burger.  What can I say?  I like finding and trying foods that sound fun and different so I was excited to go taste test.

Boy was it worth it!  This tasty morsel was fresh and juicy.   The burger was not quite proportional to the bun (it was probably only 2/3 the size of the bun which was rather disappointing)- but then again, the burger as a whole was ginormous!  The meat patty was a bit sweet, a little reminiscent of Korean bbq.  Yummy.

The burger was also stuffed with lots of crispy veggies like seasoned and sautéed carrots and daikon.  The fried egg slipped in between the top bun and veggie pile added great texture to the burger and was a nice contrast to the fluffy, chewy bun.  The red sauce drizzled on top was a nice, spicy surprise that made the burger utter perfection.   Mmmm… burger a la bibimbap.  I’m not sure that this is the proper way to use that phase but it seemed like a good thing to say. :D

My bibimbap burger proved to be quite a challenge to eat; juiciness kept spilling all over my fingers and the plate and little bits of lettuce would sneak out and fall to the plate.  But that was ok.  Mini salad after my burger?  I think yes!

The meal was supposed to come with a bag of baked Lays, but those never made it to our table - an unfortunate oversight.  However, even with the lack of sides, the meal was quite filling and made my little tummy very happy.  At just a quarter over 7 dollars, this burger was one of the best tasty and best valued burger meals I have had in a long time.

The nice lady at the counter was very pleasant and patiently waited as I took my time looking over the menu full of coffees, bubble teas, and sandwiches.  She even spent some time having a nice sounding conversation with another table of customers, of course when there was no one needing to be helped.  In the middle of the café, there was also a long table full of breads and pastries as well as a refrigerated glass-front case that housed many pretty desserts that will have to be sampled on another adventure.

Overall, my visit was pleasant and a very yummy adventure!

Until next time!  =D
